The Stay-at-Home! Festival is a celebration of books and writing, preventing loneliness and championing connectivity and community amidst social distancing. With an emphasis on both inclusivity and accessibility, this is a festival for those who might not feel able or comfortable to attend a physical literary event. This year our programme theme is: The Power (and Danger) of Storytelling. It focuses on representation and diversity, drawing from The Danger of a Single Story by novelist Chimamanda Adichie.
Readings from Katie Griffiths, Arji Manuelpillai, Courtney Conrad and Janett Plummer, introduced by the Director of Malika’s Poetry Kitchen, Jill Abram. Malika’s Poetry Kitchen (aka MPK, aka Kitchen) is a writers’ collective founded in Brixton by Malika Booker and Roger Robinson in 2001. It nurtures the writing, performance and careers of poets by emphasising craft, community and development.
